This city used to be a back lot of a major movie filming company, though nowadays Century City offers not only many high-end Office buildings, one can also find themselves shopping among movie stars in Century City’s Westfield In 1961 the major movie company that originated Century City had many movie flops, of which the movie Cleopatra was most infamous. This caused Century City to see a shift in owners of their movie studios. These new owners called Century city a “city within a city” – which is actually real logical for anyone who has ever drove from Santa Monica to Beverly Hills. Century City often feels like it’s squished in between the former 2 major cities. Century City was originally intended to be served by the same freeway that Beverly Hills uses, but this never came into place which until this very day causes major traffic irritation for the residents of Cheviot Hills and other cities in the Southern parts of Century City. Most likely once Los Angeles has its’ subway and metro system in place, it will have a stop in Century City, especially since there are so many people commuting there it would be convenient to save on the sometimes expensive parking in Century City.
